La Reserve Hotel Terme *****
The hotel boasts large windows, stone walls, communal areas inside the hotel dedicated to reading and relaxation , an area where you can lose yourself in the lush greenery and a boutique where you can buy regional wines and teas, products from the hotel’s cosmetics line and unique design objects.
From the moment it was thought up, La Réserve has been characterised by its choice of materials, lines, lights and its continual search for maximum comfort for its guests, and, in fact, the hotel’s research was so thorough that the project was selected by the VI Biennale of Architecture of Venice.
In addition to areas like the grand living room ‘Le Foyer’ , the restaurant, the three bars, the rooms, which are extremely elegant, and all the services available in the wellness area , the hotel can also be used to host meetings and congresses.
Thanks to the thermal water , the facilities of a very well equipped hotel and spa and professional personnel , La Réserve and well-being make up an inseparable combination. The hotel offers its guests three swimming pools , one outdoors, which is filled with warm sulphur water and has hydro massages , a water jet and a shower peninsula, and two indoor pools - one of which is panoramic and has hydro massages and is used for swimming against the current , and one which is warm and used for individual therapy courses , like water stretching, woga and aqua aerobics . There is also a water therapy circuit, that involves bathing in water heated to different temperatures and water jets, and cardio-fitness and body weight gyms where guests can do Pilates, yoga and tai chi and take saunas and Turkish baths . The constant features in the spa’s wellness offer are personalisation of treatment programmes and satisfaction of all 5 senses, and these are fulfilled thanks to the spa’s cutting edge equipment, thermal water and mud and the Eastern disciplines that are practised here. Specific treatments for one’s health (the spa is affiliated with the national health system) and well-being, which consist of traditional, water, Thai, ayurveda and many other types of massage sessions, are combined with those for aesthetics , the face and the body. Some other services offered include diagnostic and dietetic programmes.
La Réserve has 72 rooms which are divided into three types; Elegance, Prestige and Suites . All the rooms have their own balcony , air conditioning , fridge bar , satellite television , courtesy toiletries , free Wi-Fi internet connection and a telephone. Special rooms for guests with small dogs and smoking rooms can be organised on request.
The hotel’s restaurant, Le Regard , brings out the tastes of genuine local products, whilst keeping an eye on well-being and light dishes. It is located in the heart of an area that is rich in culinary excellencies , therefore the chef can take advantage of the seasons, does not have to import products and works with ingredients which have unique flavours. Furthermore, the attention paid to guests’ health ensures that all the dishes are health-conscious, thus they do not contain too many calories, they meet the needs of any food regime and they are light on the palate. The cuisine is, of course, Mediterranean and it combines characteristic dishes from Abruzzo with Adriatic traditions , in addition to there being some special desserts made by the patisserie staff.
Some of the hotel’s services and facilities:
The historic centre of Caramanico , which is closed in behind the walls of the fortified village, is certainly worth a visit and the beautiful medieval churches of Santa Maria Assunta, built in gothic style in the 15th Century, must be seen, as well as the San Nicola church, which was built in 1482 and which sits in piazza Garibaldi. If you head towards the end of this town, you will come across the 15th Century church of San Maurizio which guards a precious triptych of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus on its main altar.
Majella National Park, which is situated in the heart of the town, was opened in 1970 and it is a true sanctuary of nature , an island of greenery within the wild valley that is crisscrossed by the river Orfento , which is rich in water populated by fish fauna . The flourishing vegetation bordering the river bed is made up of Salix purpurea, Salix elaeagous, Salix alba, Angelica sylvestris, Valeriana officinalis and many others, and, more rarely, ferns. The bird fauna is also very rich and you can see hawks, hobbies, Peregrine falcons and, occasionally, Lanner falcons.
The entire area of the Valley of Orfento is rich in history , art and archaeological finds and it is a patrimony of traditions and customs that has been left almost unchanged over time.
