Il Baistrocchi Hotel & Spa ***S
On the outskirts of Salsomaggiore Terme, just a short walk from the centre and a few meters from the train station, the Baistrocchi spa centre was established in 1897, when it was called the Sanatorium, specialised in preventative health care and offering a wide range of wellness services based on the use of the local mineral water, the benefits of which were known even to the Celts and Romans. Guests can enjoy a comfortable stay enjoying the spa, with its swimming pools, sauna and hammam, a restaurant that serves the finest cuisine from Parma and Piacenza and communal spaces where to relax and socialise. All this near a host of surrounding cities full of history, culture, and tradition. The building dates back to 1897, the year in which the Sanatorium, now the Baistrocchi Spa Centre, was inaugurated. Over the years, the spa centre has undergone a number of renovations and extensions, but the historic chapel has remained untouched.
The Centro Termale Baistrocchi is dominated by the thermal treatments with departments for rheumatology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, pneumonlogy, respiratory treatments, Otorhinolaryngology and angiology, using the beneficial properties of the hypertonic salt-bromine waters of the hydro-mineral bath of Salsomaggiore Terme, which is particularly effective at treating circulatory problems and posture. The centre also has two spring water pools with hydro-massage, a thermal hammam, vascular thermal circuits, a Finnish sauna, Salt room and offers the possibility for hydrokinetic therapy sittings administered by qualified therapists. A range of holistic treatments are also available, including Reiki harmonisation with Tibetan Bells, Chromo Anti-stress massage and Cranialsacral massage, and beauty treatments and a solarium for the face and body.
The 300 bedrooms of the Centro Termale Baistrocchi include Standard, Superior, Exclusive and Junior Suite room types. Standard rooms all have a telephone and Satellite TV, while superior categories also have a safe and a minibar. Exclusive rooms have free Sky TV.
