Grand Hotel & SPA - Terme di Castrocaro ****
This hotel is perfect for those who want to allow themselves a few days of holiday and relaxation in a place of unquestionable beauty in Romagna, but which is not too far from Tuscany; for those who have to go on a business trip and who need to stay in a property that is very well organised as far as receptions for congresses and meetings are concerned; for those taking a family holiday with young children and who need facilities for their children; for those who are thinking about their health and wellness and want to make use of the spa and health farm in the hotel; and for those who have a weakness for the particular architecture of buildings built in the 1930s, which boast Liberty and Decò architecture .
Grand Hotel Terme is able to respond to any request, thanks to its perfect organisation thought up to satisfy every guest: there is a large park where guests can relax, multifunctional areas where conventions and events of any kind can be held, a swimming pool, solarium and a health farm for body and spiritual well-being. What is more, the location is one of the best on the peninsula which makes this hotel ideal for any type of customer.
The thermal complex at Castrocaro dates back to 1938 and it consists of a series of grand buildings which are particularly beautiful and characterised by meticulous attention to detail. Over the years the basic treatments have, of course, increased yet they still take advantage of the waters’ healing properties and keep up to date with developments in medical science. The spa is directly linked to the Grand Hotel, it is inspired by the history of Terme di Castrocaro and it uses the healing properties of the thermal waters, which are salsobromoiodic and sulphuric water s, for relaxation and wellness means.
Specialised staff, including doctors and experts in the field, and cutting-edge facilities are available, such as a thermal steam bath in a grotto, thermal swimming pool with hydro massages, a Kneipp therapy course, Turkish bath with chromotherapy, sauna, multisensory showers and a cold thermal bath, all of which contribute to experiences like multisensory programmes.
Treatments range from classic thermal ones, involving thermal water and mud, to Eastern, Western and physiotherapeutic massages, and there are also complimentary facilities which can be used, like the solarium and gym , and a cosmetics line .
117 rooms are available at the Grand Hotel Terme and are divided into three types: Classic, Executive, Junior Suite, Spa Suite; all attentively furnished and welcoming with particular attention to the use of light and the arrangement of internal spaces, not to mention, pay-per-view TV (with Sky channels), minibar fridge, safe and a free Wi-Fi Internet connection.
The hotel has two areas dedicated to catering and relaxation for guests. As well as usual bar and coffee services, Bar Chini offers aperitifs and tasting sessions, including one dedicated to liquors, which is complimented with the very best cigars, all of which is enhanced by the setting: this bar is a great example of art deco and it boasts precious majolicas and examples of Murano art.
The hotel’s restaurant brings out the best of Romagnola gastronomy, that is, the flavour of the ingredients and the tradition of making pasta by hand. What is more, in addition to the menu, which is based on the Mediterranean cuisine and local specialities, there is a patisserie and the possibility to have the menu personalised so it is low in calories or is suitable for little ones.
During the warmer months, meals can be enjoyed outside under the veranda.
Some of the hotel’s services and facilities:
One of the numerous tourist and cultural attractions in Castrocaro is the thermal complex itself and, in particular, the pavilion ‘Padiglione delle Feste’, which is characterised by Tito Chini architecture.
A walk in the Medieval town is a must, as is a trip to the fort, which was constructed on top of a mount in the 9th century and which today hosts a Medieval museum, a historical exhibition and the wine bar Enoteca della Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori. Speaking of forts, just a kilometre away from Castrocaro is the city fort of Terra del Sole which is certainly worth a visit. It dates back to the middle of the 16th century and inside it you can admire the Palazzo Pretorio, gardens and the Piazza d’armi.
For nature lovers, walking, horseback or cycling excursions can be done at the Parco delle Terme and Parco Fluviale.
Lastly, being so close to the Romagnola coast makes a stay in Castrocaro Terme particularly attractive for party lovers, who will know about the tradition here for great hospitality and entertainment and the numerous nightclubs and bars that are famous all over the world. The nearest seaside towns are Cesenatico and Milano Marittima, however, the theme parks Mirabilandia, l’Italia in Miniatura, Fiabilandia and Oltremare are also close by, which are loved by many, especially children.
