Palazzo San Giovanni is 17th century dwelling situated in the historical centre of Morciano di Lueca, a charming Salento town. Here, not far from Santa Maria di Leuca and the sea, you can find some of the most renowned beaches in Salento. The structure has been refurbished and made into welcoming accommodation while maintaining the typical Salento architecture. Guests can immerge themselves this classic example of 17th century architecture admiring tuff ceilings, large stone chimneys, barrel vaulted roofs and star vaulted roofs without sacrificing all the comforts of a hotel. The structure is made up of 3 rooms 2 apartments and a suite spread across two floors all around a central courtyard. The rooms in Palazzo San Giovanni are available in different types Standard, Deluxe and Junior Suite (with an ancient stone fire place made from Lecco stone). Two apartments have been added which boast a functional kitchen. One of the apartments can sleep up to 4 people and all of the rooms are equipped with satellite TV, air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
The neighbouring town, Santa Maria di Leuca is on the tip of the heel of Italy’s boot with a coast made up of rocky cliffs and white sandy beaches. For scuba fanatics, there are more than 14 caves to explore, found on both the Ionic sea and the Adriatic sea. To the north, on the Ionic sea is Gallipoli, one of the most beautiful sites in Salento, both from an architectural and a natural point of view. A little further, but definitely worth the visit, are Otranto and Lecce. The first is an ancient town with an imposing Aragonese castle, The Cathedral of Annunziata and the Church of San Pietro, one of the most beautiful byzantine structures in Puglia. The second, Lecce, was defined by the historian Gregorovius as “the Florence of the south” because of its stunning historical centre and the baroque architecture of the buildings. The city is full of statues, churches and historic squares.
