Grand Hotel Toplice is one of the most famous hotels in Bled and one of the most renowned in Slovenia, and it is located on the shores of the Bled lake, offering views of the island in the middle of the lake, the Medieval fort and the Giulie Alps, close to the border with Carinthia. This hotel boasts a long and glorious history that began in the mid-19th Century with the name Hotel Luisenblad, and, over the years, it hosted many famous people, from King Alexander, who made it his summer residence, to famous politicians, diplomats and culturally important people, as well as the writers Arthur Miller and Pablo Neruda. Restored to its former beauty at the end of the 19th Century, Grand Hotel Toplice was re-opened at the dawn of the 20th Century, offering guests complete comfort and relaxation.
Bled is a popular destination for golf lovers and here they can enjoy one of the best courses in Europe, and also make use of Grand Hotel Toplice’s thermal pool, private beach, private port, rowing boat rental for trips on the lake, its wonderful spa and the 800m² hall, which is perfect for events and congresses. The hotel also boasts two restaurants and two bars which both serve up tasty menus and specialities.
The Studio Luisa Spa at Grand Hotel Toplice boasts a thermal pool heated to 22°C with its own source, and this allows guests to make direct use of the benefits of Bled’s thermal water. What is more, the spa has a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, infrared sauna, solarium, aesthetic salon and a massage centre, where guests can even undergo treatments in couples.
The 87 rooms and suites are different from each other, yet they all feature elegant period furniture and mod-cons such as air conditioning, cable television, a minibar, safe box and an internet connection. All the rooms have a balcony and the 33 suites have view of Bled’s lake.
The two restaurants at Grand Hotel Toplice both serve up the local cuisine as well the best dishes from the international cuisine. The Grand restaurant is located on the shores of the lake and boasts a covered terrace, whilst the Julijana restaurant has a more sophisticated atmosphere and is located inside the hotel. The Aperitif Bar is open all year round, whereas the Jezero Bar is open during the warmer months.

Bled is a popular holiday resort for Alpine and spa tourism, boasting attractions such as the Bled Lake and an island that can be visited via characteristics boats called ‘plenta’. The town is also home to the oldest castle in Slovenia and it offers a splendid view of the lake and Alps, and guests can visit an old printing shop here and aromatic herb gallery here. A trip in a carriage driven by a traditional ‘fiaccherai’ is a must, whilst other attractions in the surroundings include the Blejski basin and waterfall, Mount Vogel, which can be reached via a cable car, and various ski destinations in the Giulie Alps.
